an update.

it has been a full few weeks.

i'm writing this from our hospital room, a place that has become more of a second home to us than we had expected. we thought we would be here for a week, and as the third week draws begins, we still have a little while to go.

as many of you know, my husband has been sick for almost two years. two weeks ago yesterday, he went in for surgery to remove his large intestine. seven hours later, he came out successfully (with one less organ).

today, he is doing well. there have been setbacks and road bumps along the way, which in the midst of them have sometimes felt as if they were too much to bear. but we are still so fortunate. the love, care and prayers that have been showered on us has been nothing short of overwhelming. and for that, we say thank you. we really have no other words that can express how full our hearts are because of you.

the weeks leading up to the surgery were filled with both anticipation and anxiety as i worked through trying to trust God with my husband and our life together. it's been difficult, and at some times almost terrifying. but as it is, i don't think we would change any of it. i have learned even more how trustworthy our God is, and that this life is meant for much more than we have yet seen.
"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." - 2 corinthians 4:16-18 (ESV)
God is faithful. and we are blessed.
